What's new

What changed on PatchVault, newest first. Only what you can see or use; fixes behind the scenes are left out.

28 September 2026

  • Gear finder (Forever): a new page bringing together every upgrade for the character you are playing. On your other characters: gear already sitting in another synced character's equipped slots, bags or bank, checked the same way the dungeon loot cards check drops. A tradeable item says which character to send it from; a Soulbound one is shown too, so you know it exists, but is never offered as something to move, since the game will not let it be traded or mailed. Dungeon and raid drops link straight to the upgrades already marked on Dungeons and raids. And something a crafter could make: real recipes players have open on Crafters, each linking to a search for whoever has it. Cross-alt and crafted both need addon 1.16 or newer to know an item's bind status; an older sync shows "bind not known" rather than guessing.
  • Since your last visit (Forever): a private summary at the top of the home page after you sign in, what changed in the Forever build since you were last here (in PatchVault's own words), who joined or left your guild, and any friend's new recipes, level-ups or loot finds, for the friends who share that with you. Only you see it, and it moves forward once you have, so nothing repeats on your next visit.
  • Friends' loot finds (Forever): the Friends page has a new feed of recent notable items your friends found, per character they choose to share it on. It is a separate switch from "Share everything with my friends" and has nothing to do with the anonymous totals on Dungeons and raids: this one always names the friend and the character, only your friends ever see it, and it needs the next addon update to start filling in.
  • Raid prep (Forever): a checklist for the flasks and potions raiders bring, one per confirmed raid (world buffs are not part of Forever, so they are not on this page). Every tick is yours to set, kept in your browser and synced with your account the same way the old weekly checklist was; nothing on this page is guessed from quest data. Where a slot on your current character should carry an enchant, the page says so, read straight from the item link the addon reports; it needs the next addon update to fill in, so until then it just says "not known" instead of guessing.
  • Lockouts (Forever): a new tab on your character sheet lists every raid an alt is still saved to this week, which bosses are already down, and when the ID resets, so you can tell at a glance which alt still has a run left in it. Reads the game's own saved-instance ledger; it needs the next addon update to fill in.
  • Message a guildmate from the Guild page (Forever): every shared, confirmed guildmate now has a Message button on their row, straight into Messages. It uses the same blocking, reporting and rate limits as writing to a crafter or a friend, and only reaches guildmates you can already see there: confirmed by the game's own member list and sharing.
  • Enchant gaps on Raid readiness (Forever): the Guild page's raid readiness view has a new Enchants column, and the unfolded gear list flags each slot, for the slots Classic-style play normally enchants. Reads the same enchant id the Raid prep page's own check uses, nothing new shared: it was already part of the gear your guildmates see once you share. "Not known" means that character has not synced with addon 1.16 or newer yet.
  • Season caps on the crest chips (Retail): a crest with a season cap now shows how much of it you have earned right on the chip, like "510 / 700", instead of only in the tooltip, and turns red at the cap.
  • Which vault item you took (Retail): Vault history now marks the item you picked with "Taken" when it is clear from your gear and bags which one it was. When it could be more than one, it still just says "Claimed" rather than guessing.
  • Reputation pace (Forever): the Reputation tab now says how many days it will take a faction to reach its next standing (Exalted, if the character is already Revered), worked out from that character's own past reputation readings, the same way the History tab's gold line is. It only shows a number once a full day separates two readings that actually moved; a shorter gap, or a faction that has not moved since its last reading, says so plainly instead of guessing.
  • Addon 1.16.0 (Forever): the update several of today's Forever features above need. Notes raid lockouts, whether each equipped slot is enchanted, and whether an item is Soulbound, and adds a short list of your recent notable finds for friends who share loot finds with you. This is a beta build for a beta game: tell us if something looks wrong. Get it from the download on the home page or from CurseForge.

27 September 2026

  • Renamed characters merge the right way (Forever): the merge suggestion now always keeps the name with the surname, with the newest data, and a merge done the wrong way round fixes itself the next time that character syncs.
  • The message window no longer runs off the bottom of the screen on phones and small laptops.
  • Vault history (Retail): a new tab on the Great Vault panel shows what your vault offered each week, per character, newest first, with item levels, tracks and tooltips, and "Claimed" once the vault was emptied that week. It needs an account and starts with your next sync; earlier weeks were never kept. Weeks are kept for a year.
  • Clearer downloads: the Addon sync window and card show the addon (from CurseForge) and the optional desktop app as two plain cards, with the import steps above. The desktop app is awaiting review in the Microsoft Store; its download says so first.
  • Smarter upgrades (Forever): caster gear is no longer offered to warriors, rogues and hunters (and fighter gear no longer to mages, priests and warlocks), and Forever's green "+Attack Power" and "+Spell Power" lines now count in the upgrade check.
  • The gear comparison looks like the game's tooltip: the item you wear is shown in Wowhead's own tooltip frame, "Currently Equipped", with the stat changes underneath in green and red. On a phone it shows too: tap an item and it appears under Wowhead's tooltip.
  • Upgrade badges show the stat changes (Forever): under each upgrade on the loot cards, what the swap adds and takes away, like "+13 Spell power +10 Int -2 Sta", losses in red.
  • Addon 1.14.0 (Forever): reads your guild, your rank and the guild's member list for the Guild page. Get it from the download on the home page or from CurseForge.
  • Share a whole character with your friends (Forever): a switch per character, Share everything with my friends, on its sheet and on the Friends page. Your friends then see its full sheet: stats, gear, reputation, skills, recipes, PvP, history, bags and bank, gold, played time and zone, and can compare its gear with their own. Keep gold, bags and bank or the zone private if you like. Off until you turn it on, friends only, never a link.
  • Forever stays Forever on Help, Feedback, Account, Privacy and What's new (Forever): opened from Forever, these pages keep Forever's colours and menu instead of switching to Retail's, and the Retail | Forever switch on them moves between the two. Feedback sent from there is marked as WoW Forever.
  • Guild (Forever): your guildmates who use PatchVault and share, side by side: rank, level, item level, gear, reputation and professions, a sortable raid readiness view and a "who can make this" search across the guild. The addon reads your guild and the game's member list, and a guildmate only counts once another player's game lists them. Nobody sees your characters until you share them. It needs addon 1.14 or newer.
  • PatchVault is on CurseForge. Install the addon from CurseForge and the CurseForge app keeps it up to date. The download on this site stays too.
  • Addon 1.13.0 (Forever): notes which items bosses really drop, for the loot cards, and /pv now opens the window the first time.
  • A tidier Forever menu (Forever): pages are grouped under small headings. Your characters first, then the game (Dungeons & raids, Zones), then players (Friends, Crafters, Messages), then PatchVault itself (Account, Features, Help, Feedback). Help is in the menu now too.
  • Help pages. Short answers on getting started, syncing, your account, sharing, Crafters, Messages, Friends and what to do when a character does not show up. Linked at the bottom of every page.
  • What's new. This page.
  • Crafters (Forever): search players who opened their profile, by character, profession, rank or simply the recipe you need, in your own region. Your profile stays private until you open it from the home page.
  • Messages (Forever): write to a crafter or a friend on the site. They see the character you write as, never your email or BattleTag. Block and report are one click away, and a short mail tells you when somebody wrote, if you want one.
  • Regions kept apart. Addon 1.12.5 sends the region your game plays in, so Crafters and Friends only show characters from the region you pick.
  • "Playing as." A plate under the Retail | Forever switch opens a side panel with the character you are playing, its gear, and one click to its sheet, bags, bank, recipes and more. Your choice follows you to every device you are signed in on.
  • Compare gear on hover. Hover any item on the site and a panel beside the tooltip shows what your character wears in that slot, with item level and every stat up or down. On Retail it needs Battle.net connected.
  • Upgrades for your character (Forever): pick who you are playing and Dungeons & raids marks every item that is an upgrade for it ("Upgrade for your legs, +12 ilvl"), lists the dungeons at its level that hold the most, and can hide everything else.
  • Gear by boss (Forever): every instance on Dungeons & raids has a card per boss with its loot, filters for armor type and weapons, and an honest label where the Forever loot is not known yet.
  • Item links on Forever pages now open Wowhead's Forever database, so tooltips show Forever's stats.
  • The Features page, a full-screen tour of everything PatchVault does, to send to a friend: patchvaultapp.com/features.
  • Link previews. Every public page has its own preview picture in chats and on social media. A shared professions link or a Crafters profile now shows who is on it.
  • A short "are you a person" check when you create an account, reset a password, send feedback or start a new conversation.
  • Mail from the site (password resets, answers to feedback, message notices) now reaches more inboxes.
  • Slimmer scrollbars in the site's own colours on panels and pop-up windows.

26 September 2026

  • A new look. The whole site was redesigned: new type, a real layout for phones, and a little motion (switched off when your device asks for reduced motion).
  • New address: patchvaultapp.com. The old address sends you here. If you use the desktop app, install version 0.2.3 over the old one: older copies still talk to the old address.
  • Feedback. Send a bug, an idea or a question from the Feedback page, with or without an account. The answer shows up on that page, and by email if you want.
  • Friends (Forever): trade a code with someone you trust and you are friends on both sides. A friend's professions show up only if their account-wide share is on.
  • Install it as an app on your phone or computer. The site offers it by itself.
  • Pages say "Retail" or "Forever" instead of a version number.

25 September 2026

  • Preview. See the whole site with demo characters, for Retail and for Forever, before you install anything.
  • Features. A menu item that lists everything PatchVault does, with pictures.
  • Share all your professions with one link (Forever): one read-only link to every character's recipes, with a "who can make this" search. You choose which characters are in it.
  • Zones and Level together (Forever): every zone by level band and faction, a route for your party from each starting zone, and routes of your own to save.
  • Bags and bank are drawn as the game draws them: icons, stack counts and quality borders.
  • Renamed characters. When a character's name changes, the site offers to merge the old and the new card. Addon 1.12.2 reads Forever names correctly again after Blizzard moved surnames on 24 September.
  • Each row in the Forever character table takes a dark shade of its class colour.

24 September 2026

  • Bags and bank (Forever, addon 1.12): two small icons beside a character open its bags or its bank, and "Find an item" searches every character at once.
  • Forever takes the colours of Blizzard's own Forever site.
  • Dungeons & raids no longer lists the six raids that are not on Blizzard's roadmap.

23 September 2026

  • History per character: every level-up with its /played, gold over time, and recipes learned.
  • Rested XP gets its own column, and characters you have not synced in two weeks stand out.
  • Tags for your alts (Bank, Crafter, Leveler) with a filter, and reputation across alts.
  • Professions, account-wide: every character's recipes read together, with a shopping list and what nobody covers yet.

22 September 2026

  • Recipes (addon 1.11): open a profession window in game and its recipes reach the site.
  • Share a character's professions with a link that does not expire until you stop it.
  • The Forever home page became one table with all your characters; the sheet unfolds under the character's row.
  • Dungeons & raids (Forever): every instance with its level range, group size and where it is.
  • Forever characters now sync to your account, so they show up on your other devices too.
  • Battle.net sign-in says why it failed when it does.

20 September 2026

  • WoW Forever arrives. A Retail | Forever switch at the top of the menu, and a side of the site for Forever in its own colours.
  • The character sheet from the addon: stats, gear, reputation, skills and XP in numbers.
  • Retail: upgrade tracks and crafted gear on the Loot page, and crest notes on the vault.

The list starts when WoW Forever arrived. PatchVault was a Retail site before that.
